Your path to accessible Sydney tours with no steps

So, you’re on the lookout for an accessible sightseeing tour of Sydney and surrounds. May be for yourself or your friends.

Do you feel like a pioneer searching out an accessible tour? May be you’ve tried to join a regular tour and found yourself quizzing the tour company beforehand about how easily they’ll be able to fit in you or your friend(s). You’re left with that feeling you’re putting the tour operator out of their comfort zone to accommodate you. Perhaps you’ve joined a tour in the past, but midway confronted unexpected steps or a non-standard accessibility ramp that would even challenge Paralympian Kurt Fearnley. Offers to “carry you up the steps” do nothing for your sense of independence. Besides, that’s just not on.

Accessible tours your right

You might be surprised to hear that many people will have a disability at some time in their lives – it could be temporary or last a lifetime, says the Australian Human Rights Commission.

Accessible tours should be and are a right. Australia In Style endorses that wholeheartedly. That’s why we’ve developed a range of No Steps Tours that ticks the boxes for people with who need a range of mobility options. If you’re seeking accessible private, personalised or group tours of Sydney, there’s plenty of options here.

No Steps Tours cover the bases

Our No Steps Tours cater for people who travel on foot, with walkers, walking sticks or use a wheelchair. All tours have been ‘road tested’, so to speak, for accessibility. Couldn’t call them ‘No Steps Tours’ if there were sneaky steps in there! We’ve done our research, have held these tours over the years and refined them to what our customers are asking for.

Garden, arts, cultural or scenic tours

Would you like to check out the Sydney Botanic Garden, Sydney Opera House, Art Gallery of NSW or other gardens, arts or cultural venues? How about the garden and art tour – there’s a couple of options on offer on that mix and they’re accessible for people moving via wheelchair. A separate tour takes in Sydney’s Iconic Arts Scene, which will take you behind the scenes at the opera house. You’ll join a small, escorted tour group to tour the world-heritage listed Sydney Opera House and meet former French language coach of the Australian opera, Marie Claire. She’s finessed the French repertoire with elite opera singers across the world. Marie is also a singer, TV performer, broadcaster and lecturer and is happy to talk about her experiences on the Australia In Style tour.

Keen to take in a few sights? You’ll experience the opera house, see prestige real estate, The Gap and Bondi Beach in our accessible Sydney Sightseeing Tour. This is a private charter with chauffeur in an air-conditioned and accessible executive mini bus. These tours can take up to 10 people including up to two people using standard wheelchairs.

How does the Secrets of Double Bay Walking Tour sound to you? This easy 40-minute walking tour showcases the iconic and stylish Double Bay. This is a private and personalised tour revealing fascinating stories and secrets about fashion, food and art. You’ll get an insight into behind the scenes of selected boutiques and meet the owners and designers. This is an ideal couple or small group tour, which has even made the ‘Insider Program’ list of the Intercontinental Hotel Double Bay.

May be you and your party want to attend a major performance venue in Sydney. Each year 20,000 people use our regular accessible shuttle service which goes from Circular Quay East right up to the steps of the Opera House before and after the show. We’ve been offering this service for more than 15 7 years.

You can even create your own tour taking in sights and experiences across the Sydney region including the Blue Mountains, Wollongong and Newcastle regions. Talk to us to design a tour to meet your checklist.

You’ll travel in comfort

Australia In Style even has a fleet of accessible vehicles. They feature extra steps and handles for extra support for mobile passengers entering and exiting the vehicles. Our four customised vehicles for less mobile passengers have a rear, level electronic lift for people travelling in wheelchairs. Each vehicle carry one or two people who use a wheelchair. These vehicles are available for charter and tours and the fleet can seat 10 to 20 passengers. What’s nifty is our 10-seater wheelchair accessible vehicle which you can hire by the day, week or month, with or without a driver.
