Check out our guide to delicious daylight-saving inspired evenings

Your chance to revel in balmy evenings and gorgeous riot-of-colour sunsets ends soon. The countdown has begun on six months of extra evening sunshine. You’ve got until Sunday 2 April – the end of daylight savings.

Are you short of ideas to make the most of your light-filled evenings before you begrudgingly turn back your clocks? Need a little more convincing?
We’re onto a good thing with daylight saving

According to US columnist, Joseph Stromberg, when the sun is out later in the evening, more people are out and about and there’s some evidence there’s less crime happening. Crime rates dropped seven per cent following the shift to daylight savings.  Evening sunshine “decreases traffic accidents and increases public health”. Some solid reasons there to get outdoors.

You might now know that (modern) daylight saving was proposed around 1895 by New Zealander George Hudson. The idea was to save power as less lights would need to be switched on in the evening. Australia is among one third of countries in the world to use daylight saving time, says US site Mathspace.com.

So, you can be one of the estimated 1.5 billion people on the globe who just trudges through daylight savings or you could make the most of it.

Your options for another dose of holiday vibe

Get outdoors and bask in the evening glow in style. We’re talking weekends or even mid-week, just to stretch that holiday vibe a bit further.

Jazz up your evenings with a romantic beachside dinner. How about a Sydney Harbour Sail and Island Picnic or just do the island picnic? French sparkling wine, red roses, a personalised chocolate dessert mud cake, a musician, even a photographer could be part of the deal taking your evening up a level or two. Picture yourself on the island trip with your partner, having the whole island to yourselves to explore. They’d be serious vantage points to soak up the exquisite sunset, too. And you don’t have to lift a finger to organise your gourmet meal – Australia In Style will sort that out for you and the whole trip. Too easy.

Delight your group with delicious offerings

If you’d prefer to take a few friends and ditch your cars and crazy Sydney traffic for an evening, check out the range of limo, Hummer even coach options. The Hollywood style limo collection seats eight to 15 people – yep, they stretch! You tell Australia In Style where you want to go, and we’ll get you there while you slink back into the comfy seats, kick off your shoes to curl your toes on the red carpet and enjoy the impressive bar facilities. We’ll take you to your favourite venue or restaurant and home again, so all you need to worry about is relaxing not driving, parking nor drink-driving. You can hire a limo for as little as one hour – now that’s an option to consider to beat your mid-week work slump. Head out to your favourite haunt or go for somewhere new.

What are you waiting for?
