Nessie, a passionate animal lover, left her family in Singapore as a young student to chase her dream of studying veterinary science at Sydney University. After graduating, she returned to Singapore and established a very successful veterinary practice.
Her parents were unable to attend her graduation and Nessie harboured the wish that one day she would bring them to Sydney and show them the city and the university that shaped her.
This dream was thrust to the forefront of her life when one of her parents suddenly became confined to a wheelchair.Without delay, she booked flights to Sydney and reached out to us for help.
She needed an accessible van and driver to be on call for 8 days so that she could show her parents her alma mater and her world in Sydney as a student. We moved swiftly to support her and assure her that she could direct the driver each day as she wished.
Just as everything seemed to fall into place, an unexpected setback occurred — one day prior to the departure, Nessie’s parents’ carer was suddenly unable to travel.
Devastated, she turned to us once more. Could we help?

Her parents took home memories of Bondi Beach, the Zoo, the Sydney Opera House and course, the Sydney University, a pivotal part of Nessie’s life.
And perhaps most special of all, they finally took that long-awaited graduation photo—parents by Nessie’s side, beaming with pride.
