Diana's Coach for William & Kate

They are the new age royals but they’re keeping with tradition when it comes to wedding transport.

Another nod to royal history, following in the footsteps of Charles and Diana, William and Kate will travel to their official reception at Buckingham Palace in an open air horse drawn carriage giving royal watchers and well-wishers (not to mention millions of viewers at home) the chance to see the newlyweds celebrate their first moments together as husband and wife.

The 1902 State Landau was designed and built for King Edward VII to be used for his coronation and was the vehicle of choice for Charles and Diana’s 1981 wedding.

Kate will travel to Westminster Abbey in a Rolls-Royce Phantom VI, the same vehicle that was attacked December 2010 while Prince Charles and Camilla were inside.

The Royal Family will ride in five coaches to Buckingham Palace from the wedding ceremony; two Ascot Landau carriages will carry William’s best man Prince Harry and Kate’s maid of honour Pippa Middleton along with their four bridesmaids and two page boys.

Following this will be two semi-state Landaus, one with the Queen and Prince Phillip and the other Charles, Camilla and Kate’s parents Carole and Mike Middleton.

What mode of transport will you be using on your wedding day? What do you think of William and Kate’s transportation choices?
